Description/Taste
Dried banana chips are crisp in texture and maintain a full banana flavor. They are produced from ripe bananas, sliced into a 1/4" slices and then are dried. This drying process maintains their yellowish color and provides a crunchy texture with a sweet intense banana taste. Typically they are made from unripe bananas and are either fried or put into a food dehydrator.

Geography/History
Native to southeastern Asia, the banana has an extensive history and has been consumed by humans ever since its discovery. In 600 B.C. the banana is first written about in Buddhist text and the first banana plantation is known in China dating back to 200 A.D. There are over 300 species of bananas but only 20 of them are grown commercially. The first banana variety was brought to America by early Spanish explorers and was the Plantain banana.
